The ward manager is Stephen Roscamp. The department also has one senior sister, four junior sisters, nine senior staff nurses, five staff nurses and one enrolled nurse, three domestics and a ward clerk. These staff are responsible for managing days and nights efficiently. Most of the staff have the ENB nursing qualification in Coronary Care and the majority have been trained in Advanced Life Support. Many also have Further Education qualifications. Mr Roscamp says: "There is a wealth of experience and knowledge. I don't have a high turnover of staff because we have a great team that works well together and are willing to learn new techniques."
Consultant Cardiologist Dr. R Muthusamy carries out a ward round every morning, at 8.30 am and sees all the patients at the CCU to ensure the unit is providing the best care for them. Through this, all acutely ill patients are given a comprehensive planned management first thing in the morning, which provides their care for the rest of the day. Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse Specialist Jacqueline Robson and Research Nurse Sister Marion Jones complete the team, although they are not based in the CCU.
