What other physiotherapy services are available for children?
If children only need physiotherapy for reasons linked to bones and joints, such as recovery from an orthopaedic operation / injury or arthritic conditions, they will be seen at the hospital by the Children's Outpatient Department.
The hospital team also takes responsibility for children’s care whilst they are on the wards, for example, if they need help with clearing their chests to make breathing easier. However, we work closely with the hospital team to provide assessment and advice for children in hospital, particularly for those children who would normally be seen in the community and have a neurological or developmental condition.
We also work closely with Sheffield Children’s Hospital which takes the lead on long-term respiratory conditions in children.
