Thursday – Friday, 8.00am – 8.30pm
The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust also runs the Diagnostic Service at Rotherham Community Health Centre. To contact the centre call 01709 423132 or 423130. This service is open:
Monday - Friday, 8am - 8pm
We have over 100 staff including Radiologists, Radiographers, Nurses, Clerical Staff and Imaging Assistants and carry out over 130,000 examinations per year.
Our hospital wide PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) system also allows all images to be stored electronically for future use.
Due to a national shortage of Radiologists the Department has been keen to widen the role of Radiographers. The majority of ultrasound examinations in our hospital are done by Ultrasonographers who also report on examinations they have performed. Three Radiographers are trained to undertake and report on barium enema examinations and two Radiographers are qualified in all aspects of plain film reporting.
Recently a Radiographer/Nurse led hystero-salpingography service has been set up to provide a more flexible appointment system for patients and the MRI department has a Radiographer who can report MRI examinations.
All staff are encouraged and supported to be active in their continued professional development to ensure a high standard of care is provided.
We provide placements for students from Sheffield Hallam University who are supervised by our staff and gain a wide range of experience in the different imaging types.
