Visitors to Rotherham Hospital may find themselves greeted by our new ‘Meet and Greet’ volunteers.
This new service is manned by volunteers - all recruited to personally greet and signpost patients and visitors arriving for treatment. As well as having a cheery smile and friendly approach, they are easy to spot as they wear purple ‘Happy to Help’ sashes.
The new ‘meet and greet’ volunteers support staff and volunteers on the welcome desk to help patients finding their way to the right clinics and getting to appointments on time and follows the positive feedback after last year’s trial.
Joanne Farey, Volunteer Co-ordinator said: “This new service supports our hospital welcome desk. We have over 100 loyal and hardworking volunteers working across the Trust, both in the community and at the hospital. This new role will help us to improve the experience of our patients and visitors when they attend the hospital.
“We will continue to develop this role and are always looking for new volunteers to complement the excellent services provided by our volunteer colleagues. If members of the public have a few hours to spare to support their local hospital and community services on a regular basis, we would be delighted to hear from them.”
