Drop-in session for pregnant ladies and new mums

03 Dec 2014 16:00:37

The Supervisor of Midwives Team at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is holding a drop in session on the 8th December between 09:30- 12:00 in Green Oaks Antenatal Clinic, Rotherham Hospital, Moorgate Road.

The session is open to pregnant ladies and new mums for them to find out more about how Supervision of Midwifery in Rotherham may be of use to them.

For example, the team can give advice on choices around birth such as where the birth will take place and the mum-to-be’s expectations and the team can also provide support after the birth of a baby in terms of talking about the experience.

This is the first time this service has held a drop-in session in this way and, if the session is successful, the Midwives within the service are hoping to make it a regular event. As well as being open to visitors, the drop-in session will give pregnant women attending their scans and appointments on that day an opportunity to meet a Supervisor of Midwives.

The drop in is open to any pregnant woman and to new mums and their families and the service will also welcome any student Midwives and qualified Midwives to attend for a chat.

Trudy Hutson, a Supervisor of Midwives at the Trust, commented: “We’re very excited to be able to welcome the local community in to our clinic to find out more about what we do for those across Rotherham who are expecting a baby or who are new mums themselves.

“We want people to know that we can give support and guidance to women, families as well as our Midwives. Our main aim is to support women to make informed choices and to assist those who might have questions or need help with their preferred birth choices.”

For more information, or to contact the Supervisor of Midwives Team on 01709820000 or 01709424491. A supervisor of Midwives is available to contact 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
