Colleagues and volunteers have joined forces to raise nearly £800 for the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity
Joanne Rose, the Trust’s Parkinson’s Disease Specialist Nurse, hosted a Purple Butterfly Charity Sale in reception at Rotherham Hospital alongside volunteers and members of the Palliative Care Team earlier this week. The fundraising team tempted donors with tasty cakes, crochet blankets, toys and baby hats, books, toys and a raffle.
Volunteer Sally Moffett and local growers’ organisation Rotherham In Root brought along the remaining sunflower plants and seeds they have been growing and selling throughout the season for their final plant sale of the year.
The event raised £650 for the charity’s Purple Butterfly Appeal
Earlier this month, the Learning Disabilities Team, also hosted a bake sale to mark Mencap’s Learning Disabilities Week, which ran from 19 to 25 June. Learning Disability Lead Nurse Jennifer Turedi was supported by Sheffield Hallam University’s learning disability nursing students Danielle Housley, Zoe Gardener and Charlotte Simpson. They raised £140, which will help fund care for people with learning disabilities.
Gabby Atmarow, Chair of the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity Charitable Funds Committee, said: “We have such an amazing workforce at the Trust who support our charity in lots of different ways and we really appreciate it. To raise nearly £800 from just two events is wonderful and just shows what we can achieve when we work together. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to host these events and to those who baked and donated raffle prizes. The money will help the Trust to make patients’ experience of being treated at hospital and in the community even better.”
