The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust has won an Employer of the Year Award from RNN Group, owner of Rotherham College.
At the RNN’s Apprenticeship Awards ceremony on Monday night, the Trust received the honour for its fantastic work with apprentices.
Graham Travis, the Learning and Development team’s Apprenticeship Manager, said the award was a welcome surprise and thanked RNN for giving them the recognition – particularly as it was during National Apprenticeship Week.
“It was unexpected,” said Graham. “I was invited to the event and went along as it was a part of National Apprenticeship Week. When I got there I realised it was an awards ceremony. I went up and collected the award and had a chat with them. It was completely out of the blue.
“We really appreciate that we have won the Macro Employer of the Year Award.
“We have around 54 apprentices with RNN Group, which is a grouping of Dearne Valley and Rotherham Colleges and who predominantly offer our healthcare courses.
“It is fantastic and a great key start to National Apprenticeship Week. It is down to the performance of the learners putting the hard work in. And we couldn’t do it without Wendy Flynn, who is the course facilitator. She is our support mechanism and a key cog in the whole system.”
