The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is launching a new monthly event at Rotherham Hospital showcasing the various maternity and family services available in the area.

It can be an exciting yet daunting time for those planning to start a family, those soon to be parents and new parents, so healthcare staff across Rotherham are joining forces to provide easy and accessible information and support, all in one place.

Through a variety of information stalls and practical demonstrations, parents and families will get advice on how to give a baby the best start in life, as well as tips on how to take care of themselves.

There will be specialists providing advice on guidance on a range of subjects, including breast feeding, safe sleep, health eating, stopping smoking and car seat safety, amongst others.

Soon to be parents will also be able to explore the options for giving birth in Rotherham, as well as meeting members of the Midwifery team and District Nurses.

Angela Wood, Chief Nurse at the Trust, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for parents to find out more about what help and support is available to them. We want to help families enjoy this exciting time in their lives by making it as stress-free as possible. As well as finding out about the services we can provide, parents will also be able to familiarise themselves with the hospital and the teams so that are more relaxed when they come for appointments or to give birth.”

The Maternity and Family Showcase is being launched on Wednesday 4 September, 6-8pm, in the Postgraduate Medical Education centre on D level of the hospital and will be held on the first Wednesday of each month.
