Spring will be in the air at Rotherham Hospital when volunteers, crafters and fundraisers join forces to raise money for the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity’s Purple Butterfly Appeal.
The Charity will be hosting a Spring Fair on Tuesday 20 March 2018 at Rotherham Hospital from 10am to 1pm.
Whether you’re a star baker, a keen crafter, would like to hold a raffle or have a unique fundraising idea – the charity is looking for volunteer fundraisers to host stalls and to donate chocolate Easter eggs to help make some of our youngest patients smile.
Gabby Atmarow, Chair of the Charitable Funds Committee, said: “We had such a wonderful time at the charity’s Christmas Fair in December with members of the public, volunteers and fundraisers raising more than £800. We hope to recreate that magic at our Spring Fair.
“Our amazing volunteers and colleagues from Unison Rotherham have already pledged to sell home-made cakes, crafts, woolly baby blankets, crafts and books – but the more the merrier! Rotherham In Root will also be selling some beautiful sunflower seedlings and purple-hued flowers and vegetables alongside local crafter Zoe Green who has made some beautiful gifts.
“Whether you can host a fundraising stall, donate cakes or an Easter egg or pop along to buy a raffle ticket we would really appreciate your support.”
The Purple Butterfly Appeal raises money to fund Purple Butterfly rooms, which provide privacy, dignity, space and a home-from-home for patients, their families, friends and carers.
The £75,000 purpose-built rooms offer privacy and dignity to patients nearing the end of their lives, and their families. The money goes towards funding the building works, specialist equipment and facilities for loved ones to stay plus a television, fridge, microwave and a kettle.
Rotherham Hospital currently has three Purple Butterfly rooms, located on Ward A2, Fitzwilliam Ward and the Labour Ward.
Gabby added: “We are incredibly proud to be able to offer Purple Butterfly rooms to patients nearing the end of their lives and their families because they really do provide the space and privacy families need when time is most precious. The heartfelt feedback we receive from families about how difference the rooms make when they have sadly lost a loved one is incredible.
“We hope our Spring Fair will help us raise enough money to fund a fourth room before the end of 2018.”
