NQN recruitment Aug 2018

A team of experienced nurses is calling for the next generation of nurses to join The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.

The Trust is seeking nurses to join its caring, progressive and dedicated services and will welcome those who have the skills and ability to fulfil this role to an open day on Saturday 18 August at Rotherham Hospital, from 9am – 3pm.

On the day, the Trust’s friendly and knowledgeable nursing teams will share all that’s great about nursing in Rotherham, the opportunities available and answer any questions. Prospective nurses will be shown around the hospital and find out about the Trust’s specialities.

Applications are now being accepted through the NHS Jobs website and those who successfully applied by Wednesday 15 August will be guaranteed an interview on the day. Offers will be made there and then on the day for successful candidates, subject to the usual checks.

Chris Morley, Chief Nurse, said: “The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust presents some amazing opportunities for nurses to develop and grow, supported by our dedicated, supportive, innovative and friendly colleagues.”

“We also offer the successful Compass programme which is unique to Rotherham. Through the programme, newly qualified nurses are supported to rotate around different teams and departments within the Trust over a 12 month period to develop a wider understanding of acute and community care.”

“We are looking for enthusiastic nurses who want to make a hands-on difference to the healthcare we provide in Rotherham to our patients in hospital and in the community.”

Newly qualified nurses taking up posts at Rotherham are supported and encouraged to put their training into practice by being part of:

  • a tailored 12 month rotation/compass programme including a two week induction and four rotations across a range of our services, or
  • an existing team in their preferred specialty and being supported to develop professionally within that specialty

As well as:

  • 'Touch base' group support days where nurses can meet with their newly qualified counterparts and colleagues to exchange experiences
  • Preceptorship programme including attended study days over six months covering topics from meeting clinical nurse specialists to understanding how our Trust operates corporately
  • Access to our health and wellbeing support to help handle transition and situations which could be stressful, for example
  • Support and advice in building revalidation portfolios
  • Dedicated one-to-one support from experienced nurses
