Type 2 Diabetes Remission Course

Rotherham Dietitians are offering a unique opportunity for you to be part of their remission course starting on 26 February.

The course is based on a recent study called DiRECT (Diabetes Remission Clinical Trial) where people with Type 2 Diabetes were able to reverse their diabetes and achieve blood results in the non-diabetes range without the use of medications. 

The aim

To lose up to 15kg over a 12 week period with guidance on nutritional intake. 

Who can attend?

  • People diagnosed with T2 diabetes within the past 6 years and have a BMI of 27- 45kg/m2

  • Are taking Metformin or using diet alone to treat their diabetes.


  • Starting from 26 February

  • Phase 1:

                Week 1: 5pm to 7pm

                Week 2 – Week 12:  5pm to 6pm

  • Phase 2:

                Week 1- Week 8: 5pm - 6pm  


Physiotherapy seminar room, Level C, Junction 3, Rotherham Hospital.

What does it involve:

  • Sessions will be delivered as face to face group sessions

  • Participants will follow a diet plan based on low calorie diet (LCD) and will include a choice of meal replacements with some vegetables/ salad or 3 meals per day. Each will provide 1000kcals and participants will have the option to use both throughout the 12 weeks.

    Baseline blood tests will be required from your GP.
