Nutrition and dietetics

We promote health and wellbeing through nutrition (eating and drinking well) to reduce/prevent illness.

Dietitians can provide advice and support for:

  • diabetes - including diabetes during pregnancy
  • gastrointestinal problems - including inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, liver disease, pancreatitis, coeliac disease
  • nutritional care before and after surgery
  • patients who are overweight
  • cardiovascular disease
  • cancer - including palliative (end of life) care
  • stroke and rehabilitation
  • hormonal and metabolic problems

Our dietitians work closely with hospital caterers to ensure patients' nutritional needs are met to help speed up recovery time.

The team work across different settings including:

  • Rotherham Hospital - wards and clinics
  • Diabetes Centre
  • community clinics
  • BreathingSpace
  • nursing and residential care homes
  • patients' own homes
  • schools
  • learning disability and mental health hostels
