Oral and maxillofacial surgery is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the mouth, jaws, face and neck. The scope of the specialty includes the management of facial injuries, head and neck cancers and salivary gland diseases.

Our maxillofacial surgeons have close links with other specialist colleagues including orthodontists, ENT surgeons, oncologists and dermatologists.

Our services

There are daily general oral and maxillofacial surgeries each week. There is also a specialist head and neck clinic on alternate Monday afternoons.

The department offers a comprehensive range of techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of salivary gland disorders. We have a visiting radiologist to carry out sialograms and some interventional radiology procedures.

We are able to provide minimal invasive techniques including sialendoscopy.

A valuable and successful dental extraction service for children takes place within the outpatient department on Tuesdays.

Our highly motivated specialist nurses care for oral and maxillofacial surgery inpatients on Ward B6.

The oral and maxillofacial surgery department at Rotherham has close links with the department at Mexborough Montagu Hospital. The inpatient work from Mexborough is carried out at Rotherham Hospital.
