Each year during Volunteers' Week (1-7 June), and Rotherham’s Volunteer Month, The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT) takes the opportunity to say a special thank you to our volunteers and showcase their valuable contribution to providing excellent services!
Throughout June, Trust volunteers have taken part in a number of events including a Volunteers’ Walk organised by Voluntary Action Rotherham in partnership with other organisations and groups across the borough who benefit from the support of volunteers. The walk started in Minster Gardens and took volunteers through the town centre and on up to Clifton Park; a fantastic day, enjoyed by over 100 volunteers in Rotherham!
TRFT also hosted a joint volunteer recruitment event with VAR, joined by other organisations and community groups who’s volunteers bring huge benefits locally by getting involved in a range of activities. The event was a huge success, recognising the contribution volunteers make to the town, raising the profile of volunteering in Rotherham and inspiring more people to become a volunteer.
The Trust is currently looking for volunteers to serve refreshments and be a friendly face in a charity café at the Park Rehabilitation Centre on Badsley Moor Lane. In addition, we are also looking for volunteers to provide support and companionship for patients staying on Rotherham Hospital wards, including meal time volunteers and feedback volunteers.
Anne Crompton, Deputy Chief Nurse at TRFT, says: “At the Trust, we are always striving to improve our patients’ experience and care and these new roles will be valuable in supporting us to do so.
“Each of these roles will enhance the patient experience by providing someone for patients to talk to, helping patients prepare for meal times and allowing them to give us feedback on what we could do better in future. If you would like to be considered as a volunteer for any of these roles, we would love to hear from you!”
