Pay and Conditions
Everyone who joins us is guaranteed a salary that matches their ability and responsibilities, and given every opportunity to increase it through training and development. The NHS pay system, known as Agenda for Change (AfC), applies to all staff except doctors, dentists, and very senior managers. See the Agenda for Change website for more information.
We know the importance of a healthy balance between work and life. The Improving Working Lives (IWL) initiative was introduced in 2000, and has helped bring about a real culture change within the NHS - reducing stress, increasing motivation, and improving productivity among staff.
One of the UK's best pension schemes
The NHS Pension Scheme is one of the most generous and comprehensive in the UK. Health and Wellbeing
The Trust Health and Wellbeing team run a series of groups to support employees with a healthier lifestyle and for employees to join in on a range of activities such as health challenges, mindfulness, holistic therapies, get active programmes e.g. yoga and zumba, Health MOTs, Plus / Minus weight loss support.
Whilst car parking at the hospital is available, it is limited and we operate a car park permit system for staff which charges a small monthly fee for a car park pass. We always encourage staff to try greener options such as public transport or car sharing.
The Trust operates a lease car arrangement through Knowles Associates known as Greyfleet where employees can purchase a new car through a salary sacrifice scheme.
Cycle to Work (Bikes for the NHS)
Employees can purchase a bike through a salary sacrifice scheme. This scheme opens for employees to join on a specific date (details to be communicated as and when scheme open) and has a window open to purchase your bikes for a period of two weeks.
Employees can access vouchers for childcare costs which are deposited directly into an on line account as e-vouchers on pay day each month following the respective deduction from salary. Employees can then arrange a direct payment to the relevant nursery/childcare provider. This scheme is open at all times for any employee who has childcare costs and is run only as a salary sacrifice arrangement through Co-operative Flexible Benefits.
Employees can join Westfield Health for support with private healthcare fees such as Chiropractors, Opticians etc. Westfield Health is available as a deduction from net pay.
Purchasing annual leave
Employees can purchase up to a week of additional leave and should refer to the Trust’s policy for purchasing annual leave for further details on the process.
