The Mayor of Rotherham has thanked volunteers for their dedication to patients at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT).
The Mayor, Cllr Dave Pickering and his wife Sue, recently attended an event at TRFT, organised to thank the Trust’s volunteers for all their hard work over the last year.
TRFT volunteers pledge to spend their own spare time to help out in a variety of roles. For example, volunteers might carry out tasks on wards such as making beds or delivering meals or they might assist those across Rotherham communities giving a helping hand with everyday tasks or providing a listening ear to those who have recently been under the Trust’s care.
Peter Lee, Chairman of TRFT, also gave his support to the event and commented: “It is important that every volunteer at the Trust recognises how important they are.
“A smiling face and a helping hand makes all the difference to patients and visitors. On behalf of the Trust I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to our volunteers.”
The event provided an opportunity for volunteers from all walks of Trust life to gather, share their experiences and be praised for the excellent work they do.
The Mayor added: “I would like to extend a message of gratitude to TRFT’s volunteers on behalf of the people of Rotherham and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council. I believe that society would collapse without the dedication of volunteers: What they give is very valuable.”
