A Rotherham nurse has been selected as UK nurse representative for development of guidelines around bladder catheterisation.
Jan Farrell, a Nurse Consultant in the Urology department at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT), was asked to sit on an expert panel made up of nurses from places including Spain, Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium and the UK. A UK Urologist also sat on the panel.
The guidelines provide an evidence based approach to best practice around bladder catheterisation and were launched at the European Association of Urology Nurses (EAUN) earlier this year. The extensive literature review and analysis of data was a huge work commitment, which provided the evidence based practice for bladder catheterisation and development of the guideline.
Jan commented: "I was delighted to be selected to be part of the development of the European guidelines and to be given the opportunity to work with the Expert Panel."
"The guidelines and the conference not only helps to raise the profile of services for patients but it also helps to raise the profile of The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust."
