As part of the Trust’s commitment to its Corporate and Social Responsibility, local film Writer and Director Jon Rosling recently came to Rotherham Hospital to capture some scenes for his debut feature film ‘Five Pillars’.
‘Five pillars’, which is being filmed in and around Rotherham, is a drama about a soldier who has just returned from Afghanistan and is trying to rebuild his friendships and relationships from before he left.
Various obstacles stand in the way of this and the film looks at modern life in England from the perspectives of his friends and family.
Jon Rosling, Five Pillars Writer and Director said: “I am very familiar with Rotherham Hospital as I live locally and myself and both my children were born at the hospital. Some of the scenes are based in a hospital setting, so when it came to choosing a location to film Rotherham Hospital was our first choice and we are just really happy that the Trust could accommodate us.”
Three scenes were filmed over two days at the Rotherham Hospital site, including in a clinical room (temporarily not in use), a corridor and the car park. The Trust worked closely with the film crew to ensure there was no disruption to patients or staff at the hospital during filming. The Trust try to support local artists and business wherever possible and were happy to support the making of the film.
We look forward to seeing it on the big screen soon. ‘Five Pillars’ will be showing at festivals in 2013. For more information on the film you can visit their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/fivepillarsmovie.
