Make 2014 the year to be seen!

08 Jan 2014 15:04:15

People of Rotherham are being invited to ditch the winter woollies and ‘be seen’ in 2014 with Reshape Rotherham, the free NHS weight loss service run by The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT).

Reshape Rotherham is available to anyone registered with a Rotherham GP with a BMI of 25 to 40kg/m2. Anyone enrolling on and completing the course between January and February will be automatically entered into a free prize draw to be in with a chance of winning a range of prizes including a makeover and photo-shoot, tickets to a Rotherham United football match, VIP tickets to see the Rotherham TITANS, a month’s gym membership, Sunday lunch for two and much more!

Supporting the Reshape campaign are Hair@Sorby’s in Wickersley, Video and Memories photography in Rotherham, Rotherham United Football Club, the Rotherham TITANS, DC Leisure, Carlton Park Hotel and the Holiday Inn in Rotherham.

Sarah Groom, Advanced Dietitian and Specialist Dietitian for Diabetes Services at TRFT said: “We are really proud to report that 88% of people attending Reshape lose weight, with 95% losing weight from around their waists. At Reshape, we encourage people to eat a balanced diet and still have those little treats; everything in moderation.   Thank you to everyone who is sponsoring our New Year campaign, it is great to be able do something special for those who have worked hard and achieved big losses through their commitment to the programme.”

Melanie Beaumont from Rotherham, recently completed the Reshape Rotherham programme and through her continued commitment to the Reshape ‘way of life’, she has now lost over four stone in weight. She said: “I joined the Reshape Rotherham programme in April after a gradual weight gain, which made me conscious of the effects on my health in the long term. Through my previous work for a catering company, I already understood the importance of having a balanced diet, but Reshape really enhanced my knowledge in this.  I also learnt more about correct nutritional portion sizes, which really helped to kick-start my weight loss.

"Attending the group was very motivating and there was no pressure; it was relaxed and informative. Since losing the weight, I have become more confident, I exercise more and I am pleased to tell people that it was with the support of Reshape that I achieved this; it is a way of life.”
