LtoR: Kevin Barron MP, John Healey MP, Linda Mills – Head of Service for Primary Ear Care and Audiology at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT) and Amanda Platts, Specialist Nurse/Lecturer within the TRFT Primary Ear Care and Audiology Service
Rotherham MPs John Healey and Kevin Barron visited Primary Ear Care and Audiology services at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT) this week.
Whilst visiting the service, based at Rotherham Community Health Centre near to the town centre, Mr Healey commented: “With special ear care support, not just hearing tests, this service is unique in the UK and ear specialists everywhere see it as setting the standard.
“It offers open access, so people don’t need to go through their GP, and the very best technical help available through the NHS. It also does vital work with volunteers through the Hear to Help scheme, which I helped save, to reach people who find it hard to get into Rotherham.”
Mr Healey has been praised recently for his work with Action on Hearing Loss’s Hear to Help service, which works locally with TRFT patients to provide hearing-aid repair services.
TRFT’s Primary Ear Care and Audiology service gives free, internationally acclaimed, NHS care for people with ear problems and for those who have noticed a change in their hearing, for example.
