Patients, carers and colleagues are being urged to nominate their health care heroes for recognition in The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust’s 2015 PROUD Awards.

The awards celebrate excellence in healthcare by recognising Rotherham’s exceptional NHS colleagues who pull out all the stops to deliver first class community and hospital services across our borough.

Following the tremendous success of last year’s awards, the Trust is again inviting patients and members of the public to nominate the Trust’s healthcare professionals for a 2015 Public Recognition Award.

Last year’s winner, selected from over 100 nominations in the Public Recognition Category, was Wendy Manterfield, Health Care Assistant on Rotherham Hospital’s Stroke Unit.

Wendy has worked on the Stroke Unit for over 13 years and was nominated by a family for the professionalism, patience and kindness she demonstrated in the care she provided for their relative.

Her nomination said: “We as a family are nominating Wendy for her professionalism, patience and kindness. We believe that Wendy went far beyond her duties and without the time and patience shown by Wendy, our family member would not be in the position she is in today – at home leading a normal life as possible with family and friends. She demonstrated compassion and showed kindness and understanding.”

Wendy said: “I was extremely proud to be nominated by our patients and their relatives and honoured to receive the Public Recognition Award 2014. I was really surprised to be announced the winner and really appreciated being recognised in this way!”

The Trust’s colleagues, eligible to be nominated for awards, deliver services not only at Rotherham Hospital, but also at the Rotherham Community Health Centre, BreathingSpace, at health centres across our town and in people’s own homes and communities such as school nurses and district nurses.

To nominate a member of staff for the 2015 Public Recognition Award, simply print and complete the nomination form at www.therotherhamft.nhs.uk/PROUD2015 or call 01709 426460 to have a paper form posted out to you.

Please complete the form with as much detail as possible, providing the name of the individual or team and specific examples of your experience. The closing date for nominations is 30th September 2015 and the official PROUD Awards ceremony will take place in November.
