Ranee Townsend, Clinical Director for Community Dental Services at the Trust, collecting her ‘Our Top Leader’ Award at the PROUD Awards 2015.

Ranee Townsend, Clinical Director for Community Dental Services at the Trust, was the winner of our ‘Our Top Leader Award’ at the Trust’s 2015 PROUD Awards.

The Trust’s ‘Our Top Leader’ is awarded to an individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership skills or qualities in one or more areas of their work. The award is not necessarily limited to ‘managers’ or those with leadership requirements defined in their role, but can also reward leadership through informal or non-traditional routes.

Ranee was nominated for this award for her leadership skills, dedication and commitment to the Trust’s dental service. Her nominator said: “Ranee is an outstanding leader and manager and I strongly feel that she deserves to be recognised for her leadership skills, dedication and commitment to our high-quality, specialised dental service.

“Under her leadership, our service was graded as ‘good’ in all domains of the Trust’s CQC report. Ranee is a truly inspirational and respected leader who is utterly dedicated to leading a high quality dental service for vulnerable patients who cannot be treated by general dental practitioners. She managers and leads a large merged service of over 100 staff across Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster and still finds time to maintain weekly clinical sessions. She is very approachable and hands-on.”

Ranee said: “I felt very honoured to be nominated for this award and was very touched by the comments made. I feel very privileged to work in the Dental Services at the Trust, with such exceptionally dedicated and caring staff who provide care for some of the most vulnerable members of the population.

“Now that I am in a position where I am so close to retirement, I can look back and honestly say that despite occasional stresses, I have thoroughly enjoyed my 34 years in my job at Rotherham.”

Congratulations also to Tammy Hayward in Day Surgery, who was this year’s runner-up of the ‘Our Top Leader’ Award.
