Health services are very busy at the moment. Help us to help those who are most in need by choosing the right care, first time.

Self care
You can treat most common ailments and illnesses at home or with the help of your pharmacist. Many pharmacies are open early until late and at weekends and Bank Holidays, including over Easter.

NHS Choices
Advice and information about a range of common health complaints, including how long symptoms will last and how to relieve symptoms is also available from NHS Choices. Here you can find an easy to use symptom checker, can search for your local services and use the interactive First Aid toolkit.

Prescriptions
Make sure you have sufficient medication over the Bank Holiday period.

Pharmacy First
Many Rotherham pharmacies are part of the Pharmacy First scheme which enables you to get some medication direct from the pharmacist without a prescription. Plus if you don’t normally pay prescription charges you can get medicine under the scheme free.

NHS 111
The NHS 111 phone line offers free, confidential health advice and information. If you are not sure where to get treatment, call 111 for advice.

GP surgeries
Make an appointment with your local GP if you have an illness or injury that will not go away.

999 and A & E
A&E is for serious and life-threatening injuries and conditions only.

Members of the public are asked to support us in making sure we can give vital care to those who have serious illnesses and those who have suffered major injuries.

We continue to see patients in A&E who could have received fast, expert advice from their local pharmacy, by calling the NHS 111 service or contacting their GP for advice.
