About the Stroke Unit
The acute stroke unit is based
on C level of the Moorgate Wing at Rotherham Hospital.
We are part of the South
Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Clinical Stroke Network.
We provide a range of stroke
services, including rehabilitation and early supported discharge services.
We also provide a daily clinic
for people presenting acutely with transient ischaemic
attack (TIA).
On the Unit, the nursing and therapy teams work
together throughout a patient's stay. Planning for discharge will start
before the patient has recovered fully to enable rehabilitation goals and
referrals to be made and for the therapy team to work closely with
the patient.
What to bring
Patients’ families or carers
should bring patients:
- Toiletries
- Appropriate nightwear
- Some day clothes to aid
recovery as part of the rehabilitation plan.
