Our team is made up of two clinical staff headed by the Trust Ergonomist and assisted by the Moving and Handling Specialist. We cover the whole Trust for both patient and load handling training and advice as well as manual handling risk assessments.  We also advise and assist with patient discharges into community.

What do the Ergonomics team do?

The Ergonomist is responsible for Ergonomic work-based assessments to assess and assist staff with alterations to their work place and/or development of work-fit programmes.

We also offer Ergonomic assessments to organisations outside the Trust upon request. The Ergonomist is the Trust topic specialist for Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments.  We assist the Occupational Therapists in Home equipment assessments and patient discharges.  We provide manual handling advice and assistance with patients at ward level and we carry out Manual Handling Training for all patient handlers throughout the Trust as part of our mandatory training programme.
