Visiting information

Visitors have an important role in the wellbeing and person-centred care of patients.

We welcome visitors at any time during the day. We do not have set visiting times. However, we recommend you limit the length of time you visit to allow your loved one to rest.

We ask that all visitors follow our visitors charter, which sets out our expectations.

Visiting is permitted for a maximum of two visitors per bed space at a time for adult inpatients, unless the nurse in charge has given permission for more.

When visiting children, two parents or guardians may visit together. Siblings are welcome to visit the ward.

During procedures, at busy times or in certain areas, visitors may be asked to wait away from the patient bedside. We appreciate your patience and support.

Patients may wish for you to support them when receiving updates in their care or significant news. We are happy to facilitate this for you.

Visitors may wish to help their loved one with eating and drinking at mealtimes.

If you wish to visit overnight, please arrange this with the nurse in charge on the ward. We may only be able to offer you a chair for the night.

In some rare situations, it may not be possible to accommodate open visiting. The reasons for this will be clearly explained to you.

If you are visiting early in the morning or late in the evening, other patients will be resting. Please try not to disturb them.

We continue to support John's Campaign, meaning we welcome carers at all times to support patients living with dementia or experiencing delirium, including overnight if necessary.

Please treat our colleagues, patients, and each other, with respect. We will not tolerate discrimination, verbal or physical abuse.

Visiting patients in critical care

When you are visiting patients in critical care (Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU)), please remember that it is essential that patients get enough rest. We ask that you only visit for a couple of hours at a time.
