Gestational Diabetes

If you have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM), you will be asked to visit this webpage where you can find lots of useful information. Testing your blood glucose levels

Please click the following link to view some short step-by-step videos showing you how to test your blood glucose levels using the Agamatrix meter provided to you:

Starting insulin

If you have been asked to start insulin, we will provide you with some written information leaflets about starting insulin, hypos, and safe driving, but please also use the link Diabetes.org.uk to access information including a step by step video showing how to inject your insulin.

After the birth of your baby – find out how you can reduce your chance of developing type 2 diabetes

Alternatively, if you have a Rotherham GP, you can see a dietitian 6-8 months after the birth of your baby. This could be a telephone call, video call or an appointment at your local GP surgery where available. The dietitian can provide you with tailored advice to suit your lifestyle and how to reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. To be referred to a community dietitian, please let your gestational diabetes dietitian or one of the GDM team members know.
