If you have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM), you
will be asked to visit this webpage where you can find lots of useful information. Please take some time to watch the GDM education videos below as these contain
important information about your pregnancy. It is a good idea to watch
these videos with your partner, a friend or relative, so that they can also
understand what having GDM involves and so they can better support you.

Starting insulin
If you have been asked to start insulin, we will provide you with some
written information leaflets about starting insulin, hypos, and safe driving,
but please also use the link Diabetes.org.uk to access information including a step by
step video showing how to inject your insulin.
After the birth of your baby – find out how you can reduce
your chance of developing type 2 diabetes
Alternatively, if you have a Rotherham GP, you can see a dietitian 6-8
months after the birth of your baby. This could be a telephone call,
video call or an appointment at your local GP surgery where available. The dietitian can provide you with tailored advice to suit your lifestyle and how to
reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. To be referred to a
community dietitian, please let your gestational diabetes dietitian or one of
the GDM team members know.
