The Health Records Department is a centrally managed service providing a health records service to a variety of health professionals, both within the hospital and outside the hospital.
The range of services and workload is led by patient activity levels, the needs of the clinician and statutory requirements. We aim to provide complete, accurate and timely patient related information service to all of our staff to make sure that our patients get the best possible care.
Health records staff are often the first point of contact with patients and GPs and our services are essential to facilitate the care and treatment of the patient from referral to discharge.
Administration
We deal with enquiries, provide copy records for medico-legal purposes, provide records for other hospitals the DHSS and patients (access to health records).
Emergency Admissions
Here we provide a 24 hour service 365 days of the year service, where we record patient details, locate and deliver case notes to wards across the hospital and record relevant information during a patients' stay in hospital.
Case Note Library
Maintain a comprehensive case note service including filing and retrieval of records, retention and destruction, housekeeping.
Information Desk
We work with the Volunteers and Porters to provide information and answers to enquiries from all visitors and patients.
Contact Centre
We manage an appointment booking service for patients coming to the hospital after being referred from GPs, Dentists and other health professionals. We also record all patient details on the Patient Administration System.
Outpatient Clinic
We provide a clinic preparation and reception service to ensure that all patients' case notes are available for their appointment and we record relevant information during the patients' visit to hospital.
