Medical Physics at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is made up of three departments. These are Nuclear Medicine/Vascular Measurement, Cardiac Physiology and Respiratory Physiology. Please see below for an overview of these departments.
Nuclear Medicine / Vascular Measurement
Our nuclear medicine service performs a full range of imaging and in-vitro tests. The Nuclear Medicine department also carries out C13 urea breath tests and arterial doppler studies (including waveforms and ABPI's).
The department is equipped with
• A Siemens T6 SPECT/CT scanner
• A Siemens Symbia S gamma camera
• An In-vitro laboratory with sample counting facilities
• An on-site radiopharmacy which holds a current MHRA manufacturing licence
• A Viasonix Falcon Pro Doppler machine.
Stress testing, ambulatory monitoring, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac catheterisation, implantation and follow-up of cardiac devices, are provided in the cardiology suite. The catheterisation laboratory is supported by an image archive and cardiology data management system.
This section provides a full range of services in respiratory physiology including pulmonary function testing, sleep studies, CPAP assessment, oxygen assessment, exercise testing, and patient advice and support. The department is staffed by a full time clinical scientist together with clinical technologists, clinical physiologists and administrative and clerical staff.
