Medical Physics at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is made up of three departments. These are Nuclear Medicine/Vascular Measurement, Cardiac Physiology and Respiratory Physiology. Please see below for an overview of these departments.
Nuclear Medicine / Vascular Measurement
Our nuclear medicine service performs a full range of imaging and in-vitro tests. The Nuclear Medicine department also carries out C13 urea breath tests and arterial doppler studies (including waveforms and ABPI's).
The department is equipped with
• A Siemens T6 SPECT/CT scanner
• A Siemens Symbia S gamma camera
• An In-vitro laboratory with sample counting facilities
• An on-site radiopharmacy which holds a current MHRA manufacturing licence
• A Viasonix Falcon Pro Doppler machine.
Cardiac Physiology
Stress testing, ambulatory monitoring, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac catheterisation, implantation and follow-up of cardiac devices, are provided in the cardiology suite. The catheterisation laboratory is supported by an image archive and cardiology data management system.
Respiratory Physiology
This section provides a full range of services in respiratory physiology including pulmonary function testing, sleep studies, CPAP assessment, oxygen assessment, exercise testing, and patient advice and support. Clinical physiologists are actively involved in the training of other health care professionals. More information about Respiratory Physiology.

The department is staffed by a full time clinical scientist together with clinical technologists, clinical physiologists and administrative and clerical staff.
