Diabetes Centre 

The Diabetes Specialist Nurse Service is part of the Diabetes Specialist Team based in the Diabetes Centre at Rotherham Hospital.

The Diabetes Specialist Nurse service triages all referrals into the specialist team, undertaking assessment and treatment of patients with onward referral to other members of the diabetes team as appropriate.

Diabetes education 

The Diabetes Specialist Nurse service delivers structured education programmes for people with Type 1 diabetes (DAFNE) and Type 2 diabetes (Desmond) - contact the Diabetes centre on 01709 427910 for more information on how to access these programmes.

Diabetes clinics 

Specialist nurse clinics are offered at the Diabetes Centre and at GP Surgeries. The clinics are for patients who require more specialist diabetes care than would usually be provided by their General Practice staff.

Access to the service for assessment is by referral only - please contact your GP for further information.

Telephone advice is available to people with diabetes and their family/carers and is available to other health professionals across Rotherham.

Children’s diabetes nurse

There is a specialist nurse for children and young people who have Diabetes who also works as part of the team. For more information, click here
