The category was competitive with only three nominees making the final shortlist.

The Developing Workforce category recognises work which empowers and supports teams. The Trust’s nomination put forward a collaboration on a three-year project between different teams. Dr Matthew Roycroft led the project, collaborating with the Care Group 1 Medicine Senior Leadership, Medical Workforce and Finance teams.

The award nomination outlined cost neutral improvements made to resident doctor (previously known as junior doctors) wellbeing, rota design, staffing levels and patient care. The Trust’s award shortlisting recognises the broad impact of the collaboration’s work over the last three years.

The Excellence in Patient Care Awards ceremony takes place in Liverpool at RCP at The Spine on Thursday 10 July. This year’s event marks a return for the Excellence in Patient Care Awards, which last took place in 2021.

Medical Director, Dr Jo Beahan, said: “We’re delighted to see the efforts of this collaboration recognised with shortlisting at the Excellence in Patient Care Awards. This project is a great example of unsung, hidden work which has massive impact and value.

“It’s enabled those involved in delivering care to focus on what matters most – our patients – safe in the knowledge that their colleagues are working on their behalf to make The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust the great place to work we all strive for it to be.”
