Ophthalmology
Ophthalmology is the treatment of eye conditions, including diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the eyes.
Services include:
- cataract operations
- glaucoma surgery
- laser surgery
- squint surgery
- corneal grafts
- oculoplastic surgery
Ophthalmology clinics
Our outpatient service is based at Rotherham Community Health Centre.
Patients are referred by their GP, or sometimes their optician.
You will be seen and assessed at our clinic. If surgery is required, you are usually given a date for this at your first clinic visit.
More than 90% of our surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic as day surgery cases (meaning you can usually go home the same day).
