Mr Carmichael is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon whose interests include foot and ankle surgery, primary hip and knee arthroplasty, and soft tissue knee surgery. Since joining the Trust, Mr Carmichael has held roles such as Foot and Ankle Surgeon, Clinical Director, Director of Surgery and, Regional Clinical Lead for the Paediatric Surgery Network.

Mr Giles has been a Consultant since 2004. He has specialist training at Oswestry and fellowship training at Sheffield Children's Hospital. Areas of interest include general children's Orthopaedics, limb lengthening and reconstruction, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, adult foot and ankle surgery, including complex rheumatoid hindfoot and forefoot surgery.

Ms Sara Dorman

Ms Dorman is a Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon. She has completed specialist training in Liverpool and fellowship training in Sheffield, Cambodia, Paris and Sydney. Areas of interest include general children’s orthopaedics, upper limb reconstruction, neuromuscular conditions including cerebral palsy, gait analysis and upper limb spasticity in children and adults.

   Ward Management

Lee White

Matron

Lee qualified as a Registered Nurse in May 2004. Prior to that, he had worked at the Trust as a Healthcare Support Worker since 2001. Lee secured a Ward Manager role in 2009 and became Matron for Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2013. 

Duties include managing both the Elective Orthopaedic Ward and the Trauma Ward, alongside the Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic. 

Laura Roberts

Ward Manager for the Elective Orthopaedic Ward

Laura joined the Trust in 2005. While a large part of her responsibilities include leading the ward team and managing safety, Laura also works clinically on the ward.  

Neil Brittain

Ward Manager for Fitzwilliam

Neil has worked for the Trust in the Orthopaedic department since qualifying in 2003. The Orthopaedic department was his final placement as a student nurse and has always been his passion. Neil has worked in the elective and trauma pathways during his career; his current role is within Orthopaedic Trauma.

Amanda Hobson

Deputy Departmental Manager

Amanda joined the Trust in 1997. Her duties include the management of the Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic. 

Charmaine Lait

Deputy Departmental Manager

Charmaine qualified in 1986; her first staff role was a Staff Nurse in Accident and Emergency. Charmaine transferred to the General Surgery and Orthopaedic Ward in 1987, which eventually became the Orthopaedic Trauma Ward. She made the move across to the Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic in 2005 and is proud to work alongside Sister Amanda Hobson.
