Get involved with the charity

There are many ways you can get involved and support the charity, from fundraising to volunteering, and opportunities for corporate partnerships.

Fundraising

At school

Fundraising isn’t just for grown-ups! We’d love to see children and young people of all ages getting involved in fundraising activity for our charity. You could invite your parents, siblings, friends and members of the community to a school summer garden party. Or you could put your team spirit to the test by hosting a sponsored school sports day. Or why not encourage your school buddies to support our Dr Ted children’s appeal by bringing their favourite teddies to school for a teddy bear’s picnic?

Get active

Raising money for charity is a fantastic incentive to get fit and healthy. You could don your swimsuit and take part in a sponsored swim. Or grab your running shoes for a sponsored walk or run – you could do anything from a short and speedy 5K run to a challenging marathon. We regularly see fundraisers take part in the iconic Sheffield Half Marathon and Sheffield 10K - get in touch if you'd like to join them.

Take on a challenge

Taking on a sponsored challenge can be an exciting and life-changing experience, as well as a great way to raise money for charity. For an unforgettable experience, why not take part in a skydive, a bungee jump or abseil a local landmark? Or you could ask your friends and family to sponsor you to undertake a personal challenge to inspire you to lose weight or quit smoking.

Leave a legacy or remember someone in your will

Three quarters of Britons regularly give to charity in their lifetimes, yet only 6% currently include a charity when writing a will. After you have provided for your family, you may wish to leave a gift to the charity to help us to continue to provide the best facilities, equipment and care for patients in future. The charity has received £127k in legacies over the last five years. Visit www.rememberacharity.org.uk for more information.

Celebrations

Whether it’s a wedding, christening or a significant birthday – why not include our charity in your celebrations? You could help boost the charity by asking for donations instead of gifts or flowers.

Volunteering

Would you be able to spare a few hours on an ad-hoc basis to support the charity? You could really help us make a difference to our patients and their families.

We are currently looking for volunteers to act as ambassadors for the charity and support our fundraising activity.

Volunteering roles could include helping to arrange a fundraising event. This could involve helping set up an event, running a registration desk, handing out goodies, marshalling participants, collecting money or raising awareness about the charity.

Alternatively, you may have a great idea for an event you’d like to organise yourself. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Our charity volunteers need to be enthusiastic, friendly and reliable. You will need be good at working as part of a team, be flexible, show your own initiative and to take directions from the charity team.

You will be expected to travel to events by foot, car or public transport.

For more information, or to register your interest, please contact the Charity team on 01709 426821 or email trft.rhcc@nhs.net

Fundraise and sign up to an event!

Could your team take on a challenge to raise money for their local hospital?

Whether you encourage your boss to jump out of a plane at 15,000ft, or run 12k through mud and over obstacles in the Total Warrior challenge, there’s no better way to test your strength, wits, or creativity than by signing up to an event.

Our fundraising events are a fantastic way for your employees to have fun and work together, or even create healthy competition between departments.

The best part is, whatever you do, when you decide to raise sponsorship you’ll be supporting local people during some really tough times.

If you are a company which match funds your employees’ donations pound for pound, this can make a real difference to the overall donation.

Donate through your salary

Has your team ever wondered how they can make their payday count? Why not sign up to Payroll Giving or the Pennies from Heaven scheme and make your small change go further?

Giving via payroll is easy to set up providing a hassle free way for your staff to give a regular tax free donation to Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity.

When you volunteer with us, your employees can develop their skills and work as a team, knowing that they are making a real difference to the hospital experience for local patients and their families. Improving our green spaces and volunteering at an event are just some of the volunteering opportunities available.

Gifts in kind

Gifts in kind are a valuable way to support the hospital, while helping you achieve your company’s social responsibility objectives.

Donating products or services means the Trust can save resources and spend more money on patient care. This could include donating hygiene products, raffle prizes, gifts for our patients who may be in hospital over holiday periods and much more.
